The functional forces of Dak Lak province checked and discovered 02 subjects driving motorbikes with 13 wild animals weighing more than 35kg.
On January 6, the police of Lak district (Dak Lak province) together with the district ranger checked and detected 02 subjects driving motorbikes with 13 wild animals weighing more than 35kg.
At about 6pm on January 4, the police patrolling in the area of Nam Ka commune, Lak district discovered Thao Van T. (born in 1986, residing in Cu Pui commune, Krong Bong district, Da Lak Province) driving a motorcycle with license plate 47K1-061.35 and a man driving a motorcycle license plate 47K1-169.02 showing a sign of suspicion. Therefore, the police stopped them to check. When being demanded to stop, the man driving the motorcycle with license plate 47K1-169.02 fled the scene, leaving his vehicle and the crates of wild animals behind.

The patrol checked Thao Van T’s vehicle and found that he was transporting 6 wild animals with a total weight of 12,35kg. In which, 3 individuals (seems to be an Asiatic brush-tailed porcupine called “don”) have a total weight of 7,3 kg, 02 individuals of weasel (unknown species) with a total weight of 2,15 kg, 01 individual seems to be a white pheasant with a weight of 1 ,1kg.
The motorcycle with license plate 47K1-169.02 left by the man at the scene had 7 animals (seems to be an Asiatic brush-tailed porcupine called “don”) with a total weight of 23,6kg.
After the questioning, Thao Van T. confessed that all of the animals above were trapped in the forest of Ea Rbin commune, Lak district during the period from December 30, 2022 to January 4, 2023.
Currently, the case is being investigated and clarified by the Lak district police in coordination with the district ranger.
